Who Do YOU Say Jesus is?

In case you missed adoration, here is meditation if you wanted to read it on your own!

“When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?”

14They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”

15 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”

16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter,[a] and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades[b] will not overcome it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be[c] bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be[d] loosed in heaven.”20 Then he ordered his disciples not to tell anyone that he was the Messiah.”  Mat. 16: 13-20

Jesus asked his disciples who people said that he was. The answered that they thought he was a prophet of old come back to life, or even John the Baptist……there were alot of opinions that revolved around their culture.

But they Jesus asked who THEY thought that he was. He took a moment to get all the the ideas, opinions, and thoughts of the world out of their minds first. Then he wanted them to answer this question with their hearts. Who did THEY think he was. This is the question that Jesus is asking you too. Who do YOU say Jesus is? Not what you have been told by me, or your parents, or even Father. Not what you have been told by the world around you. Who is Jesus to you?

Is he is cruel Judge waiting for you to screw up so he can condemn you? Or is he a hippie dude singing kumbya on top of a mountain? Or is he a powerful king who has no time to worry about little you in tiny Oregon, Ohio? Or is someone who cares? Who is there to share you triumphs, and failures, your joys and sorrows?

Who is Jesus to YOU?

Once we have thought about that we start to ask ourselves, What does HE want to be for me?

Ask him…..he will answer. Open yourselves up to what he says. He will answer whether you like it or not. And his answer will be for you…..not me, not the person next to you……but for you alone. All you need to do is listen!
